She lifted her hand to her throat only to find that the two raised marks she usually felt there were gone. Looking around she was in an open field, the wind picking up petals from the various wildflowers and swirling them around in a psychedelic wind tunnel. It was so strange to see something other than the dark and dank of her cage, but her eyes were not bothered by the light. She felt strong and happy, something she hadn’t felt in years. Off in the distance she could see the ocean and suddenly yearned to dip her feet in the cool blue water. She went to move her feet and found that they wouldn’t cooperate. She fell to the ground as she fought the unknown force that was holding her feet, clawing at the ground in front of her and pulling her feet away with all of her strength. Looking back she saw what was containing her. A human-like creature with a shadowed face held her feet with chains that were meant to be its hands. He laughed as she screamed and yanked on the chains wrapped around her feet. She was helpless and weak again, all of her strength gone as she realized that for the fleeting moment she was in the open field, she had been dreaming. The chains that pulled her back to the shadow man turned into red and black snakes and began biting into the flesh of her legs and feet. With one last cry she gave in to the pain and stopped fighting. Turning her head from her dream she let the reality come into focus and let them feed freely as she was the slave and they her masters.
